The
Canyons Resort Continues Terrain Park Upgrades
Park
City, Utah – Committed to delivering a quality terrain park, The Canyons Resort is
making several upgrades for the 2002/2003 Season. Transworld Snowboarding and Freeze Magazine have both ranked
The Canyons terrain park within the top ten in North America.
Now, The Canyons will expand the terrain park acreage, make
numerous improvements and double the
number features.
2002/2003
Park Improvements
·
25 new rails
& box features totaling 30 jibs
·
Double the
amount of hits/jumps, equaling more than 30
·
State-of-the-art
sound system
·
Two new
halfpipes including Superpipe and children’s pipe
·
Lighting
system for expanded hours of operation
·
Five distinct
runs, including areas for each level, from beginner to pro
·
Increasing
park size to 18 acres
·
Four major
point series competitions for skiers and snowboarders
“The
Canyons has been acknowledged as a leader in the terrain park world, and
we are dedicated to keeping up with the latest trends and designs,”
said Blaise Carrig, President of The Canyons Resort.
“Our staff’s commitment sets us apart from the competition,
and this year our park will truly go to the next level.”
The
terrain park will remain on the front face of the resort, accessed
directly by Red Hawk lift, a chairlift dedicated specifically to the
park. Smokie’s
Smokehouse will continue to be a prime viewing spot with its deck
located near the base of the park.
“I
think people expect us to improve every year, and we have,” explained
Terrain Park Manager Eric Brown.
This year it will be a whole new experience with our sound
system, new pipes, and the lights… not to mention 25 new rails.”
Brown will be among the leading designers and park pros when he
attends the Windells Snowboard Camp this summer at Mt. Hood, Oregon.
His experience at Windells will ensure The Canyons will have the
latest in rail and box designs and maintenance for the 2002/2003 Season.
This will be Brown’s fourth season at The Canyons, and his
fifth year building parks.
