At
The Funicians Kids Club, Kids Are On Vacation Too!
SCOTTSDALE,
AZ -- From casting a fishing line to crafting fanciful creations
to traversing scenic trails, The Phoenician's "Funicians Kids
Club" offers a full range of inspired activities for children
aged 5 to 12.
The year-round
program is headquartered in its very own clubhouse –
whimsically decorated with brightly-painted southwestern
furniture, a color-splashed graffiti wall and fun-filled
playthings. |
|
A "dream-come-true" room designed
for kids only, this multi-purpose space provides a meeting place,
game room, arts and crafts studio and lunchroom.
The room is equipped with a full range of kid-oriented
amenities, including: Macintosh computers with CD ROM; TV with
VCR; a hamster habitat; microphones and video camera; crafts and
reading corners; a library of children's music and movies; plush
animals; child-size restroom facilities; and a CD and cassette
player.
Creative daily themes and related activities developed by the
Kids Club staff -- with unbridled input from their young guests --
spark the imagination and satisfy kids' never-ending quest for
knowledge and adventure.
For instance, during a "Wild West Day," youngsters
take the reins and decide if the morning should be spent filming a
western video at the Jokake Inn, practicing line dancing or
customizing straw cowboy hats with decorative hatbands. The
majestic surroundings of the Sonoran Desert and its wealth of
resources inspired another theme day, “Desert Discovery;” a
guest speaker from the local ranger station may start off the
morning with a presentation on desert wildlife, followed by
hands-on Indian friendship bead stringing.
Other themed days in this innovative program include:
"Earth Watch," focusing on being good to Mother Earth;
"Water Sports," a day of frolicking in the resort's
pools, slide and water volleyball court; and "Fitness and
Nutrition," with a focus on healthy snack-making and physical
fun -- such as hanging out on the jungle gym and hoola hooping.
Accompanied by members of the enthusiastic activity staff, Kids
Club participants are also encouraged to explore the resort's
expansive grounds.

Youngsters can feed the fish and ducks at the
Necklace lagoon. |
Children can play in the resort's playground; try their hand
at the seasonal game arcade; dive into heated swimming pools with
water basketball and volleyball equipment; plunge down a 165-foot
water slide; tour the two-acre Cactus Garden; or explore Jokake
Inn, a quaint adobe structure with its own backyard of desert
terrain.
In addition to daily themes and projects, the Club also
features a multitude of holiday activities, among them Ice Cream
with Santa Claus; the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Jokake
Inn; a storybook reading and child-size buffet brunch, holiday
cooking classes for children, Easter Brunch and egg hunts on the
lawn and a petting zoo with baby farm animals, egg coloring and
the Easter Bunny.
The Club even boasts its own "Kactus Kid" mascot, a
smiling, nine-foot-tall, lasso-toting Saguaro cactus in a cowboy
hat whose image appears on all the Club's printed materials. The
"Kactus Kid" character visits the Club from time to
time, and is always on hand during special events and holiday
happenings.
Parents may enroll their children in the Funicians Kids Club
for a full-day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or a half-day, 9 a.m.
to 1 p.m. or noon to 4 p.m., (cost includes lunch, logo
water bottle and amenity tote). The half-day program without lunch
is from 9:00 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m.
Children's full-day Funicians Kids Club participants are all
treated to an amenity bag tied up with a helium balloon and packed
with healthy snacks and small toys, which is hand-delivered by
"special messenger" to the child's room following their
first day in the Club. A welcome letter and postcard after the
child has returned home -- in addition to the resort's birthday
card registry -- further personalize the Funicians Kids Club
experience for each child.
Fun and games, rest and relaxation -- resort pursuits usually
reserved for adults -- are for children too, at the Funicians Kids
Club! |
