Marine Science Program comes to OHANA
Keauhou Beach Resort this Summer
KEAUHOU-KONA, HAWAII - Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ocean Futures Society, Ohana
Keauhou Beach Resort and the Kona Family YMCA have partnered to offer a series
of marine science educational programs and overnight camps this summer on
Hawaii's Big Island.
Hawaii Ambassadors of the Environment, created by Jean-Michel Cousteau, is an
experiential education program at the Kona Family YMCA sustainable campsite in
Ke'ei. Youth from 10-17 years of age will learn about Hawaii's unique coral,
marine life, plants and environment from marine educators and Hawaiian cultural
practitioners.
Parents staying at the OHANA Keauhou Beach Resort can enroll their children in
special one-, two- or three-night adventure camp programs that include all
meals, supervised activities, equipment, beachfront camp accommodations and
round-trip transportation from the resort to the camp.
The schedule for this year's camp is: June 20-26; June 27-July 3; July 4-6;
July 7-10; July 11-17; July 18-24; July 25-31; August 1-7; and August 8-14.
Cost is $ 85 per child, per night. Guests can register in advance with the YMCA
or upon arrival at the hotel, based on space availability. Registration for the
Ambassadors of the Environment camp must be made through the Kona Family YMCA
at (808) 329-9622 or www.aote.org
While their children attend the nearby educational camp, parents can enjoy a
quiet Hawaiian vacation on the lush oceanfront acreage of the OHANA Keauhou
Beach Resort. As part of the Hawaii Ambassadors of the Environment program, the
hotel is offering a special Ocean Adventure Rate of $119 per night, plus
taxes, to guests whose children are attending the camp. This includes single or
double occupancy in an ocean view room with waived local calls and
parking fees. Guests will also receive one complimentary Fair Wind Raft
Adventure with the purchase of one paid adult ticket. This award winning raft
adventure takes you to pristine Kealakekua Bay for spectacular snorkeling. This
bay is also the historic site of the Captain Cook Monument. Plus visit sea
caves and lava tubes as the Captain shares history along the beautiful Kona
coast.
Rates and specials cannot be combined with other offers, and are subject to
availability and change. Restrictions may apply. Taxes are not included.
The beautiful 311-room OHANA Keauhou Beach Resort enjoys an oceanfront setting
amidst 10 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. On property amenities
include an oceanfront restaurant and bar, a beauty salon and day spa, an ocean
view fitness center, six tennis courts and an activities desk.
