Fairmont Le Château Montebello and Environment Canada’s Biosphere make learning and fun inseparable

(Montebello, Québec, Canada, June 2002) Fairmont Le Château Montebello has found a way to teach children interesting concepts on the environment, while they are having the time of their life!  From learning about different plants, to observing bugs in the now famous “A Bug’s Life” program, the biggest log construction in the world, along with Environment Canada’s Biosphere helps kids understand the importance of preserving the environment.  A unique chance to enjoy a fantastic vacation with your family, while giving your kids the opportunity to learn about eagles, frogs and many other interesting creatures.

The Bio Kit Program

Every child coming to Fairmont Le Château Montebello being booked on one of the many packages available (Montebelissimo, Family Fun or Summer Escape) will receive a complimentary Bio Kit. The pack, devised and produced by Environment Canada’s Biosphere, contains information on nature matters, a fun questionnaire as well as several suggestions of activities to do during their stay.  And it does not stop there!  As practice is a good way to understand theory, kids are encouraged to complete three of the suggested activities, such as a guided bear watching session, guided canoe or kayak tour, a drawing on specific environmental subjects, the inventory of plants found on the premises, participating in our A Bug’s Life program and more (some activities have no extra-cost).   Once the three activities have been approved, they become Official Members of the hotel’s Curiosity Club, with a certificate to prove it, as well as a surprise present as a reward for their hard work!  Specifically created for Fairmont Le Château Montebello, the Bio Kit is very informative and provides current knowledge on the region’s fauna and flora.

A Bug’s Life

Mosquitoes, flies, bees and caterpillars are far from being annoying at Fairmont Kenauk; with our A Bug’s Life program, they can even become the highlight of your children’s stay!  The experience, a short informative session on insects found in the area - given outside by a Fairmont Kenauk guide-, is followed by a fantastic quest where children have to look for the bugs they just learned about.  A learning experience which promises to leave them with happy memories for a long time!
