Completes $50 Million Property Enhancement
ANAHEIM, CA, June 11, 2002 - As guests of the Disneyland Hotel close
their eyes for a dreamy night's sleep, Tinker Bell flutters out the
bedroom windows leaving a trail of magical, glow-in-the-dark pixie dust
behind.
Only at Disney . . .
This whimsical Tinker Bell wallpaper border is just one of the many
enchanting new touches at the Disneyland Hotel, giving guests the chance
to experience the magic of the original DISNEYLAND park throughout their
entire stay in Southern California. The hotel just completed the final
phase of its $50 million master enhancement project, where each of the
990 guest rooms have been adorned with $15,000 in plush, distinctively
Disney decor.
The new rooms were designed by Wilson & Associates and
incorporate the fantasy, characters and icons of DISNEYLAND. Images of
Mickey Mouse can be found on floors, bathroom sconces and desk lamps,
while lampshades are laced in stars and moons as a tribute to Fantasia.
Mirror "mirrors on the wall" are inspired by Snow White,
tissue dispensers appropriately picture Sneezy, and standard beds have
new headboards picturing Sleeping Beauty Castle. Bedspreads artistically
depict 12 classic attractions one would have seen at DISNEYLAND on
opening day in 1955. Likewise, the new guest room armoires commemorate
DISNEYLAND park's inaugural year with a rustic rendering of the original
map of DISNEYLAND, drawn by Disney Imagineer Herb Ryman in 1955.
Today, the Disneyland Hotel has 62 suites, a large number for any
Anaheim-area hotel, generously ranging in size from 740 to 3,400 square
feet. For families or individuals preferring a higher degree of service,
the Disneyland Hotel also offers Concierge Level guest rooms with
upgraded amenities.
The Disneyland Hotel's master renovation plan was marked by the new
Never Land Pool complex in 2001. Based on the animated treasure Peter
Pan, the pool's colorful pirate ship houses a 110-foot water slide and
"mermaid lagoon" whirlpool, with tropical landscaping,
waterfalls, koi fish ponds and miniature Jungle Cruise remote-controlled
boats. New dining options include character breakfasts at brand-new
Goofy's Kitchen and gastronomical delights in Hook's Pointe & Wine
Cellar.
The Disneyland Hotel is located at the DISNEYLAND Resort at 1150 West
