While the Skiing is a big attraction at Big Mountain Whitefish Ski and Summer Resort, it certainly isn't the only winter activity available for families to enjoy.

For a change of pace, why not introduce the family to Nordic Skiing on the 16 km of cross country trails that wind through trails or enjoy the trails on snowshoes.

Snow Tubing is another fun way to enjoy the hills where family members ages 7 and up can enjoy a lift to the top of the hill and a tub down in single person tubes or join hands and go down as a group.  It's tobogganing only better.  

Another kind of mountain ride at Big Mountain is the Thrill Sledding.  These fully independent suspension built sleds with hydraulic brakes and handle bars that guide four mini skis down the hills are also used during the summer when wheels replace the skis.  Guided tours on the sleds are also available.

Ever wonder what it would feel like to ride in the Cats that groom the ski hills?  Well now you can with the Snow Cat Skiing adventure available at Big Mountain Whitefish and get to explore the terrain beyond the ski area to boot.  Views will abound from Glacier National Park to the Canadian Rockies while skiing in fresh ungroomed powder.

Activities just don't stop on the mountains of Whitefish.  Snowboarding takes on a whole new meaning with the boarding course on Whitetail's north side.  Boarders will enjoy the table tops, major hits, gap jumps and berms that make this terrain and the 350 feet pipe a thrill for any snowboarder during day or night skiing hours.

If all that mountain activity doesn't tire you out completely, why not try something that will let your legs take a break.  Options include a leisurely three hour snowmobile ride up to the 7000 ft summit.  The Dinner Sleigh Ride to the old livery stable takes you back in time to enjoy a chuck-wagon dinner while listening to stories spun by cowpokes reminiscent of that time out on the range.

For some more of that old west feeling, the new mechanical Buckin' Bull named Buba can give you a gentle or wild ride.  Your family can have fun watching others get bucked off Buba and onto the inflatable mat.

While winter is chucked full of a family fun at Big Mountain Whitefish, summer offers its fair share of opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors near the majesty of Glacier National Park.  Some of these pursuits include:

• Hiking the Danny on Memorial Trail up to the summit;

• Lift Serviced mountain biking

• Horse Back riding

• Gondola Rides

• Archery

• Thrill Sled Ride

• Wagon Rides
