ORLANDO, FL – The lost city of Atlantis has risen at SeaWorld Orlando. Journey To Atlantis -- an all-new, one-of-a-kind water coaster adventure ride through the mysterious and ancient city – is open at the Orlando adventure park.

An entirely new experience for SeaWorld, Journey to Atlantis plunges brave riders into an adventure of epic proportions where they are thrilled and tossed by unseen forces, experience serpentine twists and speed down two of the steepest, fastest, wettest drops to be found anywhere.

SeaWorld guests helped to create Journey To Atlantis. When asked by ride designers, guests overwhelmingly said they are intrigued by the legend of Atlantis, and they want to be thrilled beyond their wildest imaginations.

"Until now, only astronauts and deep sea explorers could achieve the level of adventure and excitement our guests will experience at Journey To Atlantis," said Vic Abbey, SeaWorld Orlando’s executive vice-president and general manager. "This is the next generation of adventure ride. We journeyed thousands of years into the past to create the ride of the future."

Brave explorers board eight-passenger Greek fishing boats for a twisting, turning, plunging ride through a mythical world filled with thrills, chills and spills. The ride -- SeaWorld’s largest attraction ever -- is the first to combine magical out-of-this-world illusionary effects with the hair-raising adventure of a high-speed water ride and a careening roller coaster. The result? An edge-of-your-seat experience that sets a new standard for theme park excitement.

Witness The Rise...
Lost for centuries, the ancient city of Atlantis has risen from the sea. Dripping with water and alive with sounds from within, the building is spectacular. In a setting reminiscent of Greece, its sparkling 10-story tower is adorned with intricate mosaics and statuary and crowned by a blue dome and a golden seahorse. As guests board Greek fishing boats for a closer look, they are pulled into Atlantis by a gentle current. The city’s beauty, mystery and ancient majesty envelopes them.

Experience The Fall...
Inside the darkened maze, Allura, an evil spirit who lives within Atlantis, first makes her mischievous presence known. Brave guests become the stars of their own Greek tragedy as their vessel dives, falls, dodges, plummets, plunges, careens and dashes at high speed through the ancient lost city.

Surviving close encounters with gushing fountains and Allura’s well-aimed water cannons, adventurers pause at the precipice of a 60-foot drop.

But the journey into Atlantis is far from over. Pulling riders back into the misty and candle-filled catacombs, Allura sends the craft speeding into wild coaster S-curves and into another free-falling plunge through a massive wave of water. Eight more brave souls have made it out of Atlantis alive.

Just as the fable of Atlantis captured popular imagination, Journey To Atlantis is destined to capture the title of the most imaginative water-coaster ride in theme park history. The immersive adventure takes passengers through multiple levels of fantasy, reality, history, and mystery. Ride producer Richard Hoag incorporated scores of cutting-edge special effects and added whirlpools, vortexes, and maelstroms throughout the groundbreaking ride.
