Foliage Package Deals, Special Events and Scenic Gondola
Rides Highlight Killington for Fall 2004
K-1 Gondola rides offer views of five states and Canada
atop the highest lift-serviced peak in New England
KILLINGTON, Vt. (Sept 15, 2004) - From the end of September and continuing
for about a three-week period, foliage viewing is part of Vermont culture.
This fall,
Killington again will offer scenic gondola rides on the K-1 and Skyeship
Gondolas for
guests to view foliage in the heart of the Green Mountains. From special
events to
hiking, mountain biking and high-energy fun at the Killington Adventure
Center, there
is no shortage of entertainment. Killington is offering special foliage
package deals
from $26 per person per night, which includes lodging and a round-trip
gondola ride.
"Sometimes leaf-peepers get to sample a bit of white from Killington's
massive
snowmaking system. These are the first indicators that even though it's
fall, winter
and the opening of the longest ski season in eastern North America are not
far
away," said Gillis Lynn, vice president of brand management. "The dramatic
changes
are what make the region so unique, and the change in seasons is wonderful
to
watch.
"
Guests have two options for viewing foliage: a ride on the K-1 Gondola to
Killington
Peak, the highest gondola-serviced peak in New England, or on the Skyeship,
which
travels from scenic Route 4 to the top of Skye Peak.
Atop Killington Peak,
guests can
enjoy views of five states and Canada, while numerous hiking trails await
visitors
atop Skye Peak. In addition, guests can mountain bike or hike on
Killington's 45-mile
trail network via the K-1 Gondola, play golf or mini-golf, ride two alpine
slides, climb
on the climbing wall, skateboard or in-line skate in the park.
Both
gondolas are open
daily during foliage season.
