TIS THE
SEASON - Each holiday season, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is
aglow in decorations, twinkling lights, parades, celebrity appearances
and more.

Children of every faith recall special holiday
moments that last a lifetime. A flash of magical memories may be the sight
of twinkling lights, or fireside stockings, the sounds of sleigh bells and
laughter, or sweet-and-spicy kitchen smells – all of which we gallantly
try to recreate each year, so that the best of our traditions stay alive.
Or, how about stepping back to a time where all
these magical moments are still as large as life?
It is precisely at this time of year, every year
that the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, makes an eye-popping switch
into a winter wonderland.
Word has it that Santa has managed to sprinkle
fairy dust all over the landscape and out of nowhere has come dreamlike
light displays, jubilant caroling, holiday storytelling, massed choral
concerts, and fantastical weather forecasts predicting "a 100 percent
chance of snow flurries" every night. A snapshot sampling of the magic
includes:
• Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights at Disney-MGM
Studios features more than five million sparkling holiday bulbs on
everything from trees to walkways to spinning carousels, all of it
designed by Arkansas businessman and philanthropist, Jennings Osborne.
• Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is planned on
several nights, starting Nov. 28. Each party date will feature magical
storytelling, live music, unique merchandise and exclusive Disney
character shows. Be sure to book tickets in advance.
• Holidays Around the World presents international
lore and legends at Epcot World Showcase, from Nov. 28 to Dec. 30. Guests
get reacquainted with Old Saint Nick, but storytelling also introduces us
to Père Noël in France, LaBefana in Italy, and so many other traditions
from around the world, including Kwanzaa and Hanukkah observances.
• Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade is on a
special daytime schedule in Magic Kingdom and stars Mickey Mouse and
Minnie Mouse, toy soldiers and giant gingerbread men happily greeting
guests.
Highlights of the season also include carolling,
Christmas shopping, holiday trees and live entertainment, as well as
simply jaw-dropping confectionary creations like a life-size, edible
carousel, and a giant gingerbread house that boasts more than 1,000 pounds
of honey.
