Delta SkyWish(TM) Program Announces the Safe America
Foundation as Charity of the Quarter
SkyMiles(R) program members may donate miles to support safety education
ATLANTA, Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) has designated the Safe America
Foundation as the fourth SkyWish Charity of the Quarter for 2004. SkyMiles
program members may contribute miles to support the organization's efforts
to promote youth safety, homeland security and transportation safety.
"We look forward to assisting Safe America with promoting safety education
through mileage donation," said Jeff Robertson, director of Delta's SkyMiles
Loyalty Program. "Through SkyWish, Delta and our SkyMiles program members
can help provide support for education programs on a broad range of safety
issues."
Based in Marietta, Ga., the mission of Safe America is to advance the issues
of safety at home, work and in leisure activities through the distribution
of safety products and educational programming. The organization previously
worked with Delta to develop the WorldSafe(R) program, aimed at educating
global travelers and businesses about travel industry trends, airport
safety, travel safety and travel technology.
"Safe America believes that educating ourselves, our families and our
children about safety in our day-to-day activities is paramount to the well
being of all," said Len Pagano, president of the Safe America Foundation.
"We are excited to have Delta support our efforts to provide safety
education and products."
Donations may be made via e-mail at
delta.bids@delta.com, by calling 1-800-325-3999 or via fax at
404-773-1945. When making a donation, SkyMiles program members should
include their SkyMiles account number, the amount of miles to be donated and
note that the Safe America Foundation is the charity that their miles will
benefit. Additional SkyWish donation information can be found at delta.com/skymiles/use/donate.
There is a 5,000-mile minimum donation, and Delta will boost each donation
by 20 percent for every 5,000 miles contributed. SkyWish donations are not
tax deductible for Delta Air Lines or SkyMiles program members.
In addition to the above-mentioned initiatives, Safe America has also
developed other important programs including the Safest Kid in America, Cobb
Safe Communities, WorldSafe and SafeTeen America. The Safe America
Foundation has funded over more than 150,000 youth safety products for
at-risk children and partners with businesses and agencies to produce safety
programming. For more information, visit safeamerica.org or call
