Delta's SkyWish(TM) Program Partners
With Girl Scouts of the USA; SkyMiles(R) Members Can Donate Miles to Assist
Young Women Making a Difference ATLANTA, Jan. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
-- Delta Air Lines has announced Girl Scouts of the USA as the SkyWish
Charity of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2003. Through SkyWish,
Delta's charitable mileage donation program, SkyMiles members can donate
miles to support the Girl Scouts and its efforts to teach young women the
importance of self-esteem, social values and leadership.
Among other uses, miles donated will help send the Girl Scout Gold Award
Young Women of Distinction to Washington, D.C., for a week of recognition
and to learn about the U.S. government firsthand from women on Capitol Hill.
"Delta is pleased to assist the Girl Scouts in its worthwhile
mission," said Rob Borden, Delta's SkyMiles program director.
"It is important to teach youth how they can make a difference in their
communities and to reward them for their achievements."
The Girl Scout Gold Award Young Women of Distinction program recognizes 10
Girl Scouts for exceptional community service from the 3,500 recipients of
the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting.
"We are honored by Delta's support and thank SkyMiles members in
advance for their generosity," said Jackie Barnes, Interim CEO of Girl
Scouts of the USA. "Mileage contributions will enable more girls
to gain skills necessary for success through Girl Scout opportunities
domestically and abroad."
Beginning today, SkyMiles members may donate miles to Girl Scouts of the USA
via SkyWish. There is a 5,000-mile minimum donation, and Delta will
boost each donation by adding 1,000 miles for every 5,000 miles contributed.
Donations can be made via e-mail at delta.bids@delta.com,
by calling 1-800-325-3999 or via FAX at 404-773-1945. SkyMiles members
should include their SkyMiles account number, the amount of miles to be
donated and note that Girl Scouts of the USA is the charity that their miles
will benefit. SkyWish donations are not tax deductible for Delta Air
Lines or SkyMiles members.
Girl Scouts of the USA is the preeminent organization for girls, and has
more than 3.8 million girl and adult members. Now in its 90th year,
