HOTEL
AND LEISURE LIVING SERVICES LTD. has developed a list of suggestions and
checklists for Hotels and Resorts to assist in the record keeping and
maintenance of cribs. The Hotel Crib Maintenance Program can help to
reduce the risk of strangulation, suffocation or entrapment for children
using hotel cribs.
Parents travelling with young children have expressed concern about
the service that Hotels provide with respect to cribs, and the most
common complaints are that Hotel Cribs:
- Are not available or all the cribs are taken;
- Cribs are old, unsafe or too small for a toddler;
- Have ill fitting mattresses or no proper sheets and blankets.
A recent spot check by the National Safe Kids Campaign as reported by
the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) found unsafe cribs and
playyards in 80 percent of hotels and motels visited.
As one of goals of HOTEL AND LEISURE LIVING SERVICES LTD. is to
improve facilities for children while travelling, the Hotel Crib
Maintenance Program has been developed.
The Hotel Crib Maintenance Program has been designed for metal/wooden
cribs and mesh/portable cribs and playyards.
This Program, in conjunction with the use of the Crib checklists as
part of the Hotel’s Crib Maintenance Program can help reduce the risk
of serious injuries by young children, especially infants, while
travelling with their parents. Also included are instructions on
the proper disposal of used cribs.
