on the same flight in the same compartment by a person at least 18 years

- at least 18 years old, and
- traveling in the same cabin.

Infant
& Child Seating
Delta's Safety
restrictions and travel guidelines for using child
restraints:
Aboard
the Aircraft
Infants
If the seat next to you remains unoccupied, you may place
your infant in the seat using an FAA approved child
restraint Approved Child
Restraints below). Delta cannot, however, guarantee a
seat will remain open. You must pay for the seat to assure
its availability.
Where you may sit
When using a child restraint, please do not select
seats in the following areas:
The following restrictions apply if the child restraint
occupies the middle seat:
-
single aisle aircraft - If the child is placed in the
middle seat, the accompanying adult must sit at the
window seat unless the window seat remains vacant
throughout the flight.
-
center seating section of dual aisle aircraft - The
accompanying adult must sit next to the child, so as not
to impede other passengers' access to the aisle.
Note: A row may contain more than one child
restraint device if the children are from the same family or
travel group.
Take-off
and Landing
An adult (12 years or older) may hold an infant or have
the infant in an FAA-approved
child restraint during take-off and landing.
What you must do
The accompanying adult has the following responsibilities if
using a child restraint during take-off and landing:
-
assuring the child restraint seat meets FAA guidelines
(see below).
-
assuring the child restraint seat functions properly
and is free of obvious defects.
-
securing the child in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions.
-
making sure the child does not exceed the restraint's
weight limit.
-
making sure the child restraint is secured to the
aircraft seat using the aircraft seat's safety belt.
Note: Delta's flight attendants will verify with
the accompanying adult that the child is properly restrained
and the seat is properly secured to the aircraft seat,
however, the ultimate responsibility falls to the
accompanying adult.
Approved
Child Restraints
Delta does not permit the following types of car seats:
-
booster seats - even if they bear labels indicating
they meet US, UN, or foreign government standards.
-
vest and harness-type child restraint devices. Do not
confuse these with approved child safety seats having a
harness-type closure for securing the child in the seat.

The following information is provided by
Delta Air Lines with respect to Children traveling alone:
Children
Traveling Alone
When children between the ages of 5 and 14 fly by
themselves, we recognize that your most important concern is
your child's safety and well-being. It is our concern as
well. Delta Air Lines is dedicated to making your child's
flight an exciting and enjoyable experience. We can also
provide, on request, service to children ages 14 through 17
who are traveling alone. Please call 800-221-1212 to speak
directly with one of our reservations representatives
regarding travel restrictions when your child is traveling
without you.
Travel
Guidelines and Safety Restrictions
We have put together the following guidelines and safety
restrictions to ensure your child has the best flying
experience possible:
-
We must have the name, address and telephone number of
the person who will meet the child at the final
destination. We will not release a minor traveling alone
to anyone but the person designated by the parent or
guardian. In addition, whoever meets the child on
arrival must provide identification and sign an
acceptance of responsibility for the child.
-
We will issue a red-and-white striped identification
button your child must wear at all time.
-
We will not book reservations for an unaccompanied
child on the last connecting flight of the evening. This
is to avoid the possibility of the child staying
overnight in a hotel.
-
If it appears bad weather may divert the flight from
the child's final destination, we may rebook the child
on an alternate flight.
-
A parent or guardian must accompany children ages 5 to
14 until they are aboard the airplane. We ask the adults
to remain in the gate area until the plane takes off.
-
Children ages 5 to 14 may travel on Delta non-stop or
connecting flights, and are permitted to make flight
connections to other airlines. We will assist the child
making a connection.
-
A Delta flight attendant will hold the child's ticket
and other travel documents throughout the flight. On
international trips, we will verify that the child has
proper proof of citizenship. Additionally, some
countries require special documentation, such as a
notarized letter, stating that the child has permission
to fly alone. Our reservations representatives will let
you know if this is required when you book your child's
ticket.
-
We cannot administer medicine to children flying
alone. If the child is unable to give himself or herself
medication, other travel arrangements must be made.
-
Children under the age of 15 will not be seated in an
exit row.

denied boarding.
International Flights
All children, regardless of age, must have a ticket. The
price of the ticket varies, however, according to whether
you choose to hold the child or purchase a seat. The fare
for a lap child is approximately 10% of the adult fare. If
you choose to purchase a seat, however, the fare is
approximately 66% of the standard adult fare. For further
