What are the check-in procedures when
my child is traveling alone?
- Your child should be brought to the airport of
departure by a responsible adult who will remain with
the child until enplaned, and in the airport until
takeoff.
- Your child should arrive at the airport one hour
before departure in order to complete all necessary
forms and check-in procedures. Parents or
guardians will be asked to provide names, addresses and
home and business telephone numbers for those dropping
off and meeting the child.
- Photo identification will assist in identifying the
party meeting the child on final arrival and will assist
American Airlines in updating both parties if a flight
is delayed or arrives early.
- The agent will ensure that the flight on which your
child is confirmed is operating as scheduled. If the
flight is expected to divert to another airport, please
make alternate arrangements for your child’s travel.
- Requests for a party, other than American Airlines, to
escort your child at the connection city will not be
honored. American Airlines remains responsible for the
unaccompanied minor from the origination to the final
destination.

minor traveling on wholly domestic itineraries that
include the last on-line connection through Chicago
O’Hare (ORD).

forms prior to boarding.
- The agent will ensure that the party delivering your
child to the airport completes all necessary Customs and
Immigration forms before American Airlines or American
Eagle takes custody of your child.

should be at the gate 30 minutes prior to departure for
pre-boarding.
